A normal protein in serum of higher animals such as sheep and cows functions like the dsDNA Antibody in Lupus. Henry Kunkel, a premier Clinical Immunologist of the 20th century, discovered this protein and published his research in this paper in 1972. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, the identity of this protein is still unknown as there was no further follow up of Dr. Kunkel’s findings at the proteomic level.
Recent data shows further evidence of how eating red meat may lead to cardiovascular disease. Inflammation is involved in heart disease as well.
