Dr. Ashfaq A. Razzaq is a Neurosurgeon with a Spinal sub-specialization. After graduating from Aga Khan University, he undertook Neurosurgery training in the US and UK, for a 14-year period. He worked at prominent Neurosurgery centers in Cleveland, USA, Oxford, UK and King’s College Hospital, London.
He is the only Pakistani Neurosurgeon to have done three years of advanced Spine Fellowship training, in both Neurosurgery & Orthopaedic Surgery, from the US and UK. He has performed more than 1,500 brain and spine operations. He recently completed a prestigious AO Spine fellowship at the University of Alabama (which is among the top 10 US hospitals). During this Fellowship he performed 200 cases under the supervision of members of the North American Spine Society. Many of these cases involved spinal rod and screw placement, requiring a high degree of precision. He also gained in-depth experience in spine deformity and trauma during this Fellowship.
He has published 15 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and has more than 20 international presentations to his credit.His areas of expertise include neck and back pain, radicular arm pain and sciatica, cervical and lumbar degenerative disc disease, spine deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis, spine trauma, spinal infections (TB) and tumors. He also practices general and cranial neurosurgery, including but not limited to head injury, brain tumours, infections, hydrocephalus and peripheral nerve surgery.
